A286, X6NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2, 1.4980 Stainless Steel - Introduction and Application

A286, X6NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2, 1.4980 is an austenitic age-hardenable iron based superalloy Heat resistant steel with high strength, creep resistance, low magnetic permeability and high oxidation resistance. Endurance properties are obtained by emitting MC, M6C carbides by means of nickel, titanium and aluminum.It retains the appropriate mechanical properties to a temperature of about 650 - 700 ℃. In addition, it exhibits suitable strength properties at extremely low temperatures. Heat resistant to a temperature of about 800 - 900 ℃.Used as a steel for aviation and power engineering for heavy-duty rotors, gas turbine blades, steam turbines, pressure equipment parts and reactors, jet engines and rockets, exhaust systems. Also used in cryogenics and cryotechnics.

Forging

Light forging can be performed in the temperature range of 871-1010°C (1600-1850°F). Heavy forging can be done in the temperature range of 1010-1204°C (1850-2200°F).

Cold Working

Pyrotool A can be cold formed.

Annealing

Pyrotool A can be solution annealed at 982°C (1800°F) and oil quenched, which should be followed by holding at 718°C (1325°F) for 16 h and air cooling. This treatment enhances high strength for the alloy.

Aging

This super alloy can be aged at 718°C (1325°F) for 16 h and air cooled to gain high strength. Prior to aging the alloy should solution heat treated.

Welding of A286, X6NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2, 1.4980 Stainless Steel

Welding processes of super alloy Pyrotool A are similar to that of stainless steels. The area to be welded has to be properly cleaned. Preheating or post welding heat treatment is not required.


Machining of A286, X6NiCrTiMoVB25-15-2, 1.4980 Stainless Steel

Super alloy Pyrotool A can be machined using all the common processes. Cemented carbide tools are recommended for use during turning operations.
